LinkedIn Learning

In partnership with LinkedIn, Leyla was invited to create three courses for their learning platform, resulting in engaging, informative and actionable sustainability skills with over 150,000+ learners worldwide taking the courses to date.

LinkedIn Learning Courses

Leyla was invited to be a LinkedIn Learning Instructor after being named a LinkedIn Change Maker in 2020.

LinkedIn Learning is an exciting platform that millions of people engage with to upskill in a wide range of business skills. Leyla was invited to be a LinkedIn Learning Instructor in 2022, after being named a LinkedIn Champion (UK). Over the next two years, she worked with the production team to develop a trilogy of courses designed to make sustainability accessible and relevant for professionals at every level. The first course, Sustainability as an Innovation Opportunity, was recorded during the continued lockdowns of early 2022, so Leyla and her team successfully produced this first video series from home, incorporating a lot of props and having fun with the content.

Within just a few months post-launch, it hit its first learner milestone, was translated into several languages and selected for dissemination through a global Microsoft learning program. To date, this course has had over 150,000 learners complete it.

Leyla then created two new trainings at the LinkedIn studio to complete her course trilogy: Transform your Business through Sustainability and Climate Leadership and Circular Economy Business Strategies.

“This course has equipped me with the tools and mindset needed to identify sustainability-driven innovation opportunities. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their understanding of sustainability in the business context.”

— Ida Nurnaeni, Head of Regulatory Affairs

Sustainability as an Innovation Opportunity

Learn about sustainability and the circular economy with examples of how it impacts business decisions and daily life, including waste, product lifecycle, supply chains, and procurement, to name a few. Explore the emerging world of circular redesign and what it means to operationalize it for a business. Gain practical tips to take action, motivate others, and inspire sustainable innovation in product development and business design.

Transform your business through Sustainability

In this course, learn the terminology, literacy, and techniques that you need to build a sustainability action plan. Discover a clear and actionable overview that supports managers in developing an action plan for sustainability leadership in their organization. The advantages of taking action now are highlighted, such as risk resilience, and attracting and retaining talent, and staying ahead of what regulations require.

Climate Leadership and Circular Economy Business Strategies

In this course, the goals and approaches toward enacting the circular economy are covered, and the relationship it has to business. Specific approaches for eliminating waste, making things last longer, and regenerating nature through reuse, repair, remanufacture, and circular redesign are covered with examples and recommendations for enacting them.

How we did it

With LinkedIn Learning having a very broad global audience and leveraging video-based content delivery, Leyla approached her curriculum design knowing it needed to be relevant, interesting and applicable to a wide range of people to distill her expertise down into bite-sized bits of information and find the most effective form of direct transmission that would stick.

Each course was designed to connect with the audience, starting with the big picture of the core content and then breaking it down into clear, focused modules that laid out a learning path through all the critical content that people should engage with. Each module contained a defined learning outcome, a compelling hook to capture attention and memorable nuggets of information paired with practical activities that learners could apply immediately.

This required an intensive research process to ensure that the content’s main ideas were communicated effectively, enabling the key learning outcomes to be achieved and fostering a broad and universal understanding of key concepts.

By incorporating unique content approaches across all three courses, the outcome offers a strategic curriculum design that distills complex sustainability concepts into actionable and applicable to business content.

The Three Courses

Sustainability as an Innovation Opportunity

The first course, Sustainability as an Innovation Opportunity, was produced during COVID lockdowns, requiring Leyla and team to film it themselves. This encouraged a fun and highly creative approach, using lots of quirky props, visual metaphors and playful examples to bring the course material to life.

Transform Your Business through Sustainability and Climate Leadership

When the next two courses were created in 2023, lockdown restrictions had lifted, and Leyla enjoyed production with the full support of the LinkedIn Learning studio team. Transform Your Business through Sustainability and Climate Leadership was designed specifically for executives and leaders, delivering direct and strategic guidance tailored to their needs.

Circular Economy Business Strategies

Circular Economy Business Strategies was actually the first circular economy-focused course on LinkedIn Learning. As such, it centered much more on innovation and inspiration, encouraging businesses to think differently about how they could redesign their business model to achieve circularity.

“The Circular Economy Business Strategies course, facilitated by Leyla Acaroglu, is a thought-provoking and highly engaging program that equips learners with the tools to rethink traditional linear business models. It provides a deep dive into the principles of circularity and offers actionable strategies for integrating sustainable and regenerative thinking into modern business practices. Leyla’s facilitation style is dynamic and insightful, combining theory with practical applications. She breaks down complex topics—like systems thinking, lifecycle design, and product stewardship—into digestible modules, making them accessible to learners from all backgrounds. The course is interactive, with well-designed quizzes, visuals, and real-world examples that enhance understanding and retention. What stands out most is the course’s emphasis on the transition from ownership to access, promoting models like Product-as-a-Service, repair and reuse systems, and regenerative design.”
